New Beginnings is a bold creative development program by blue joy theatre co., spotlighting emerging voices and fresh ideas at FRINGE WORLD 2026. With a focus on collaboration between BIPOC and non-BIPOC artists, the program dismantles barriers that often limit access to creative opportunities. Through mentorship, workshops, and residencies, artists experiment across performance mediums, refining their practice and pushing the boundaries of storytelling. Work-in-progress showings invite audiences into the heart of the process, offering an exclusive first look at daring new theatre and performances in development. New Beginnings is more than a showcase - it’s a movement to nurture cultural exchange, champion inclusion, and celebrate the voices shaping the future of contemporary performance.

On the morning of a proposal, three friends find themselves unravelling more than just their nerves. As memories blur into dreams and secrets surface, they are forced to confront old love, forgotten promises, and the truth about what and who they really want.
better late, than never. is a tender, surreal, and heart-wrenching exploration of friendship, love, memory, and the invisible threads that bind us. Poetic and time-warped, it asks not only what we hold onto, but what we remember, from time to time.

Echoes in Draft is a table-read-driven creative development program by blue joy theatre co. designed to amplify emerging voices and in-progress works across performance and theatre. Built on the belief that storytelling begins long before the spotlight, this program offers writers, performers, and creatives a space to breathe life into scripts by hearing them aloud – raw, evolving, and full of potential. This is where dialogue finds its rhythm, characters start to pulse, and narratives echo with the truth of collaboration.

New Beginnings is a creative development initiative presented by blue joy theatre co. It champions BIPOC-led storytelling and fosters collaboration between BIPOC and non-BIPOC creatives. On May 4th 2025 at Midland Junction Arts Centre, you will witness two new scripts exploring love, identity, and relationships till we meet again and better late, than never, written by lead creative Mohammed Ayo Busari, under direction from emerging artist Zoe Garciano. This project has recieved writing mentorship from Mararo Wangai, and directing mentorship from Gita Bezard. Thanks to Propel Youth Arts WA for supporting New Beginnings.
